Cosmelan®

Cosmelan® is the leading worldwide depigmentation method to treat the most severe, resistant spots with maximum efficacy and safety. The treatment consists of a single in-clinic session along with a home cosmetic regimen, necessary to achieve the best results. The process is approximately 6 months with a dual mechanism of action. It can remove the existing spots for a short-term result while also maintaining control of the deeper pigmentation for long-lasting improvement.

Dermamelan® works similarly however on a much deeper level. Ideal for dark Melasma and other deeper forms of pigmentation, Dermamelan® treats skin discoloration while regulating the overproduction of melanin, inhibiting and controlling the reappearance of new pigmentation. The first phase consists of a medical consultation and application of the Dermamelan® Mask. Guidelines for home care are given and must be followed for optimum results. The full treatment is completed in 4 months, although results can be seen within the first few weeks. Once treatment is complete your Aesthetician will recommend other products and/or treatments to control and inhibit the reformation of pigment.

Frequently Asked Questions

It is advisable to perform the treatment after the summer, to avoid intense, prolonged sun exposure. In some areas where sun radiation is unavoidable, it is recommended to avoid direct exposure, using a hat and a very high photoprotection.

After treatment at the clinic, the skin appears reddened and feels warm, but these are mild, expected symptoms that will disappear after 24-48 hours. During the first days of the home phase, a slight flaking can appear, with some sensitivity, but these symptoms disappear with the application of the recommended home products.

It is not an invasive treatment and the downtime related to the treatment will not prevent you from enjoying your daily activities. However, the necessary daily habits must be adopted to follow the home cosmetic regimen and avoid sun exposure as far as possible.

Although spots disappear almost completely, there is always some tendency for them to recur, in particular in case of exposure to sun. Therefore, the daily use of sunscreen is essential and in the case of more resistant spots we recommend complementing your daily skincare routine to include a regulating depigmentation treatment, always under the prescription of a professional.

Other depigmentation treatments, such as laser or chemical peels, limit their action to removing the pigment accumulated in the skin and making the spot less visible, but do not ensure that it will not recur. Cosmelan® has a dual action: it removes the visible spot, but also acts on the origin of the problem, regulating pigment overproduction to avoid reappearance over time.
